toast

Why is burnt toast so disappointing?
I had a few slices of french bread left that I wanted to use up before it went bad. I put them in the toaster, got out the butter, cinnamon and sugar and awaited eagerly my breakfast.
I love toast. There is just something so heartwarming about it. Sitting on your plate, staring up at you, the butter all melted and sliding into the cracks, the cinnamon and sugar kind of combining to make the perfect culinary experience.

I awaited the toastmaster and ran over when the familiar "pop" let me know my breakfast was ready.
I walk over, and blech. The top half of my toast was charred. The bottom half was perfect. So I cut off what I could and ate what was left. But it was diasppointing. I kept feeling like I could taste the burnt toast on my non-burnt portion.

So yes, I am disappointed. Burnt toast can also make you grouchy.
Just call me Oscar.

Life sucks sometimes

It is one of those mornings. Nothing is going right.

Charles and I are in one of "those" fights.
He didnt get a paycheck on Friday, the manager said he thought they mailed it, so somewhere is a much needed paycheck floating around in at the US Postal Service. So, while trying to keep our heads above water and get Bills paid, until that check shows up I have like $40 in the bank account that is not earmarked for something. Of course this is the month that school needs $5 here and $6 there and a donation for teacher birthdays and class parties and field trips. Then I get upset for him paying $10 to the library for overdue fines and it just escalated. Honestly.

I am starting a new(and difficult) curriculum at school and am a little nervous (chemical relaxers and ethnic hair care/styling). . So for the next 3 weeks I will be pulling my own hair out while trying not to chemically burn off Destiny's(my mannquin).

Peter STILL has a nasty cough that seems to get worse, then better, then worse then better.
So I have to call his pediatrician and see if I can get in for an appointment and get an antibiotic. So if I can get an appointment today I will have to leave school early and there goes my perfect attendance record for this cycle, which actually pisses me off. A LOT.

I have a giant fist hole in my bathroom wall from SOMEONE punching it in anger (tsk tsk tsk).

So to quote one of my favorite songs from when I was a kid (Don Williams Jr.)
"Lord, I hope this day is good. I'm feeling cranky and Misunderstood
I should be thankful Lord, I know i should, but Lord I hope this day is good"

just breathe.

GROUCHY

I admit it, I was UBER-grouchy yesterday.

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and let it completely destroy my day.

I stomped, I pouted, I moped, I yelled. I was really my charming self.

So to my kids who took the brunt of my hostility, I apologize.

And to my husband who brought me home ice cream to help soothe the savage beast, thank you.

Last night we had TORRENTIAL downpours and wind. We lost 3 large branches from one or two of our pine trees in the back yard. I could stick them into a piece of florist styrofoam and have a Christmas tree. All I need is Charlie Brown and the cast singing Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

2 of my poor bean plants were flattened, so I stood them up and hard packed some dirt around them to keep them upright. I am just so glad I had the foresight to add stakes to my tomatoes and tie them up along with having cages around them. I wont complain about a handful of beans, because we desperately need rain in these parts, and it could have been worse.

PRODUCT ENDORSEMENT!!!! PRODUCT ENDORSEMENT!! (and I am not even getting paid to do this)

I have found my new favorite shampoo and conditioner. Herbal Essences HELLO HYDRATION. i foudn them through Dawn, who emailed me about their free mani-pedi offer right now. (buy any two specially marked herbal essences shampoo or conditioner, you get a voucher for a free manicure or pedicure). So I went to Walmart(GASP!) and bought a bottle of the shampoo and conditioner.

Let me just say: HEEEEEELLLLLOOOOOO HYDRATION!

My hair was soft, smooth and shiny. It smells great too. I swim with my kids every day so my hair has been feeling the brunt of the pool water and has been kind of dry. This combination has REALLY helped. One thing I REALLY like about it, is the thickness. The shampoo is thick and creamy and makes a great lather. It rinses clean too. The conditioner is thick and creamy as well, not thin and wimpy like other conditioners. It sort of made me feel that it was clinging to my hair for dear life, moisturizing the heck out of it. My hair was baby butt smooth and silky. It really was amazing.

Oh and I found THIS GAME. Dan and Laura, I shall KILL you for telling me about it. I spent TWO HOURS trying to figure out how to get past level 6!! (please email me and help or my kids will go without lunch and dinner)

hopefully today will be better than yesterday. Send me good thoughts and good karma.

I-I-I-I-I I'm hooked on a feeling

I dont know why, I really needed something to make me laugh. I think this video is hilarious and watching it always makes me smile! Ooga Chucka.

I guess I am feeling a little grouchy. I dont think I slept well last night, I know for sure I had some wierd dreams.(something about reviewing an application, google adwords, a friend from highschool, cutting in line to beat a slow person getting on a plane and sasquatch??) GAH. what am I thinking about subconsiously to have such a random assortment of wierdness in my dreams? Honestly.

On a good note, last night the UPS guy came and had 9 BOXES for me. Yes, NINE! I bought shipping boxes and crinkle paper, I bought some more soap fragrances and needed some more ingredients, I got some more lip balm flavorings, I got my knuckle buster credit card imprinter and Charles(DH) got his wireless mouse he bid on from (fe)Ebay for his laptop.

I tried to open the door and the dumbass had blocked us in with our mountain of packages. They deliver to our side door, which is the door we use mostly for going in and out. So we had to push push push to get a space big enough to squeeze through and moce stuff into the house. In retrospect I suppose it would have been easier to cut through the piano room and go out the front door and around to the side of the house. But I am not that smart in the heat of the moment, and you know what they say about hindsight. It really IS always 20/20. And on another good note I now have enough packing peanuts and foam sleeves and bubble wrap to last me for the next 6 years. It is in a GIANT lawn bag, filled to the brim. Thats fine with me, now I dont have to pay for shipping cushioners!(yay. I'm being somewhat earth conscious!)

So despite my bout with "The Mondays"(which is odd, since it is actually Tuesday) I guess I am starting to feel pretty happy.

Thanks Hoff.
