Here in the south we rarely get snow. And when we do it is usually only an inch or so.
Monday Morning about 3am it started to snow..and snow...and snow.
It snowed all day.
Here are my cats handling the snow in their own way, the best way that cats know how to do anything. They slept through the entire thing.
Then after the snow stopped, the freezing rain and sleet started. I mean it hammered us ALL NIGHT LONG. When I awoke this morning I found these hanging on the eaves over our door. Gigantic icicles of death, waiting to fall, pining the helpless victim to the porch. Everytime we open the door I feel like Ralphies Mother from "The Christmas Story" saying "Careful, those icicles have been known to kill people..." I am not exaggerating when I say that giant one is about a foot long. It is ridiculous. Like something out of Mammoth Caves.
All in all we got about 6 inches of snow here at our house and a nice sheeting of ice covering everything. My yard is shiny. The ground is shiny (the ground is also very hard and my butt is very sore), the cars are frozen shut, and the temps are remaining below freezing, the sun is hiding and the wind is blowing.
So the kids have been off of school the past two days. Charles office shut down at 830 last night, and THEY NEVER CLOSE. EVER. Period. and I am off of work today because of treacherous conditions.
I love Winter in the south.
